It's raining outside, but it's sunny in my bowl!

Like a lot of you, I woke up and saw the clouds and thought, "What an ugly day!" So to cheer myself up, I made a colorful breakfast treat.

You can use just about any fruit you like.  It's all up to you, because guess what.... IT'S ALL HEALTHY!

My take on a fruity morning cereal

Ingredients
bananas
raspberry
blueberries
strawberries
diced almonds
pour in bowl
add unsweetened coconut milk
Toppings (optional, to taste)
honey (pure)
cinnamon
nutmeg

Bon appetit!

In scientific terminology, a berry is a fruit produced from the ovary of a single flower in which the outer  layer of the ovary wall develops into an edible fleshy portion.

Because of their fiber and liquid content, berries give us a feeling of fullness so it's perfect when you're trying to watch the calories.

Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries are powerful super foods.  They are rich in nutrients, antioxidants, and phytochemicals which may prevent the effects of aging, high blood pressure, and certain types of cancer.

And they taste great!

Check out this very easy and quick breakfast cereal. Can be eaten cold or warm up the coconut milk for something warm on those cold Winter morning.

I've never been one to "diet".  I mean yes, I have cut back on bread or alcohol in order to get into the bride's maid dress for my brother's wedding. Or the new two-piece for that long awaited getaway, but nothing for any major period of time.

Lately, I've learned of family and friends suffering from ailments/conditions that were never of grave concern before.  When it hit close to home, I started doing some research and learned that most of these issues could be handled by just making slight changes to our diet.  Don't get me wrong, nothing I hadn't heard before in some form or fashion - but now I was ready to hear.  Isn't that usually how it is? (c'mon, it's not just me).

For instance, did you know that not only is cauliflower, great for detoxing and loaded with antioxidants, but you can use it to make faux mashed potatoes and rice!

So, starting with a 28 day detox, I decided to cut back, off, down and out a few things. I eliminated refined sugars, carbs, grains, dairy, AND ALCOHOL!

Did I mention that I've been a Pescatarian for over 20 years?

Most detox tell you after the set deadline, to begin adding back foods one by one, to monitor the effects of each.  After researching, I've decided to continue with the detox, and adding a variation of the famous Paleo Diet

** Before embarking on any dietary change plan, do plenty of research to see which is right for you, and consult your physician.

After a long hiatus from the music scene, Jean Bernard Thomas is back with the first single 'Gen Fanm' off his upcoming album.

Thomas partnered with HaitiXchange, creating the ultimate ode to Haitian women.  He sings praises of their varying shades and physical attributes, but also salutes them for their sacrifices, their love of family, and their loyalty.

Thomas is always one to sing about the beauty of his beloved Haiti and all that it has to offer, Gen Fanm is his love song to Haitian women.

Look out for his long-awaited album, coming soon!

The video was shot about a year ago, but if you look closely, you may still be able to recognize a certain someone.

Here's a hint: ;)
