Miss Haiti naturally?

New pictures of the candidates for Miss Haiti 2014 were released on social media and are causing quite the controversy.

It appears that at least three of the women, who had previously been pictured with natural hair and hairstyles, now into the competition, are appearing with straighten hair or/and weaves.

Was this a coincidence or was there really a large message? Is Natural too natural for Miss Haiti?

What message does this send to girls?

Want to hear your opinion.  What say you?

Though not yet confirmed this is a response by one of the women said to be involved in the Miss Haiti organization.

  1. The message is simple - "Tèt Kròt Pa Ladan'n" - "Bòs Mason Pa Ladan'n" - "Ti Fanm Tèt Gridap Pa Ladan'n" - "Ti Fanm Tèt Bòchèt Pa Ladan'n"... I could go on but I digress. The reality is we don't have any contestant here who stands a real chance to win anything; why really bet on a losing horse? I think this the worst thing you can do for someone's self esteem (Boy or Girl) is to thrust them into an environment that the are ill prepared for when the chance of failure is 99.999% while we build them up with a fake sense of pride because we don't like telling people the truth. We believe that it's better for others to hurt their feelings because we are cowards. Let me say it: "Why put these young women through this circus? They don't stand a chance in the world; some one please get them mirrors and get their family and friends glasses." - Deuces!!!

  3. I think complaining about a woman relaxing her is racist. Asking why a woman relaxes her hair is simply racist. Being mad and making negative comments about a woman relaxing her hair is racist and ignorant. If a woman feels she may look better or more pleasant in her own eyes and in the eyes of others relaxing her hair, it is her every right and nothing is wrong with that. Beauty pageant standard or whatever a woman with nappy hair relaxing it is no where near from being a sell out or ignoring her ethnicity. Those making harsh critics and remarks about black woman relaxing their hair are the ones with identity complexe and problems. That is racist in my eyes, so get a life and let a major afro grow with your pubics.

  5. Y'all looking real stupid right now. Going at each other for no absolute reason. Some of these girls look pretty. These girls took a chance and enrolled in the process. Maybe the "prettier" girls did not have enough self-esteem to register. I was able to identify two maybe three that are contenders. If you know someone who can be a good contestant ,make sure they register next year. Meanwhile, be nice to each other because Haiti is a small country and we need to support each other. No matter what this situation is , it will NOT be as bad as the girl who went to the Miss Universe after Anedie or the one who went last year.
