H Mystique Inc. : Marie Therese Fouchard

Kolektif 509 held their 2nd edition Contemporary Art exhibit "RASIN", promoting creative talent in Haiti. The event was curated by none other than, one of the leading artist of Haitian contemporary art, Mario Benjamin.

This year the exhibit featured the works of 8 new artists:

Opening night was on June 27^th,at VILLA KALEWES in Petion-Ville and the event ran till July 6th, culminating with a brunch event with food by Aztec restaurant.

Le Grenier de Rapadou Les Jardins de Gerard Loko designs Marie Therese Fouchard Marjorie Alexis Martine Cantave Michel Chataigne SANDILOU Simi

From the

moment I met Marie Therese Fouchard or 'Tete', as she is most affectionately called, I fell in love with her spirit. She is a woman with lots of charm, character, class and of course undeniable style.

Tete is one who has paid her dues in the fashion world. She started designing in 1987. A party girl, Tete, designed clothes for her and friends to go out and look good in. She was making pieces she believed people wanted to wear.

Haiti soon became confronted with the US embargo, civil and political unrest, and things began to change. Tete too was affected, and began looking further. She fondly recalls advise someone very close to her gave, “Just make what you would wear.” Those words changed the course of things, and soon embodied with a strong sense of self and a determination to promote Haiti, Rapadou was born.

After many years in the business, Tete says she has found her "place in the sky", and has opened a new boutique.

Located in Les Jardins de Gerard up a cute stairwell, as if perched in a tree house, lies Le Grenier de Rapadou " Rapadou's attic". Overlooking Petion-Ville, Tete has created a little oasis filled with pretty little things. Bright colored dresses, hand woven bags, beautiful pieces of jewelry accentuate the modish decor.

Being a true Libra, Tete, did not want to just showcase herself. Le Grenier also carries pieces by other local designers. Tete says she surrounds herself with things she likes, of good quality, and that compliment her own line's aesthetic. She wanted to create a place of fashion while promoting local products and Haitian designers.
