After five years at Lincoln Center, New York Fashion Week has a new home.

The first location is Skylight at Moynihan Station.  Yep, the old post office located by Penn Station, on Eighth Avenue between 32nd and 33rd streets.  The second location is at the edge of SoHo at Skylight Clarkson Square at 550 Washington Street.

The shows had to move from thier old home because of constant complaints from neighbors, and a violation of their contract, due to improper use of a nearby park.

Is the old post office, fashion friendly?  Well designers such as, Ralph Lauren, and Philip Lim, have already used the space for shows.

The spots, both run by Skylight Group, were chosen by a team including IMG and mayor Bill de Blasio. Of the change, De Blasio commented, “The fashion industry contributes so much to New York City, and I’m thrilled that New York fashion week will bring so much excitement and energy to its new homes at Skylight Clarkson Sq and Skylight at Moynihan Station.” IMG noted in a release that “NYFW will also include a more carefully curated designer schedule that will be complemented by strategic partner alliances,” suggesting that certain brands may be dropped from the IMG schedule and that some mode of transport between the two spots might be provided. Let see how it goes when the new locations make their official debuts during New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2016 which runs from September 10, 2015 through September 17, 2015.
