Christela Jacques Miss Haiti, left alone in the Lion's Den...ok well, Vegas

The Miss Universe 2012 Pageant has ended less then 24 hours ago, and there is already some controversy.  I will admit that I was one of the first to blog, and speak out about the poor quality of Haiti's overall performance during all the phases of the Miss Universe pageant, but many more have followed.  It should have been obvious to anyone following the pageant, the lack of preparedness and overall polish.  In all of my comments I; however never held Miss Haiti, Christela Jacques, accountable.  When you first see Christela you do see a beautiful girl, with a slim statuesque built.  All the makings of being the next top model, if you will.  What you don't see is the poise and comportment of a beauty queen. So how and why was Miss Christela chosen?  Based on a new petition launched by the Miss Haiti Organization,  franchise owner, Magali Febles is responsible. Febles, lives in Puerto Rico and also holds the franchise for Miss Republic Dominican Universe.
Magali Febles

Miss Haiti Organization states that, "For the past three years, Magali Febles did a horrible job with the national pageant and an even worst job to support the Miss Haiti Universe."

Further reading led me to a blogpost, where during a Video interview, Miss Haiti states that she should not be in Las Vegas representing Haiti.  The reporter baits her with questions, to also make the point of foul play. Christela admits that is was in a last minute closed casting done with a small group, Magali Febles included, where she was selected.  The reporter gets Miss Haiti to also admit that this is not the way selection is suppose to have been done.

This is not the first time that we have had such reports about Febles and her handling of Miss Haiti.  In 2010, the first Miss Haiti contestant after 22 years, Sarodj Bertin, was said to have been picked from a "fake" competition.  In the mist of what was suppose to be a fair contest, Febles was said to have flown Ms. Bertin in from Dominican Republic, at the last few minutes of the competition and declared the winner.

To me, whether or not Magali Febles should no longer hold the franchise of Miss Haiti is one thing.  I am saddened when I see a girl who should be having the moment of her life, look into the camera and say she is not confident in herself, and will probably not make it to the finals.  To me this is the greatest injustice and worst example of foul play.

Congratulations Miss Haiti!
