12-12-12...What does it mean to you?!

Good morning all!  Today is the long awaited and dreaded 12-12-12 (if you believe the world will be ending in 9 days, ijs).

I woke you this morning thinking what I'm sure many of you were thinking; 'cool date' 'once in a lifetime occurrence , blah blah blah.  

I started seeing things on line, people marking the date by either getting married, throwing an end of the world party and so on.  I was struck when I read someone else's assessment on what this day means to them.  He simply stated, "for me it signifies –‘Nothing I build today will last’."

That immediately sadden me and gave me pause.  He's 
absolutely right!  Nothing we build, buy, celebrate will be
around in 100 years, when this happens again.  The author goes on to suggest that we do something today that may last till we live, such as planting a tree, doing charity, helping a stranger or re-bonding with some old friend.  "We try so hard to find out ways to register a memory, that we escape the obvious things we can do."

So today instead of just thinking about how "cool" this date is, I am going to challenge myself, and I pass that challenge on to you all.  Build something today that will last!
