Haiti Fashion Week started off with a Gala of all galas. Everyone who was anyone was there. It was an invite only affair, filled with dignitaries, and other honored guest. Standing room ONLY!
The Diva
Emeline MICHEL, kicked off the evening, and the runway show. Everyone was up at their feet. The models, showed off fashions from earlier days. There were pieces on the runway that were over 70 years old. I was happy to hear that certain fashion houses, had people who preserved and archived many of these pieces. It was amazing to see how 70 years later there were pieces that I wanted in my wardrobe right now, no scratch that, right away!
Each designer was asked to have their Muse model the best piece from their collect. An instant tease, everyone is now looking forward to what's in store for the next three days!
For me the best part of the evening was that the night was dedicated to all the pioneers of the fashion game. One of the first Haitian International models, Faïmy
Hakime received a plaque in honor of the trails she blazed. Some other honorees were the first school of fashion in Haiti, and Michel
CHATAIGNE for bringing an international standard to the world of cosmetology.
Great start to what looks like what will be a great event.
Stay tuned
