idée fixe is my hair. Though I have been wearing my hair natural for sometime now, I have recently committed to letting it grow in search of the "ultimate" afro (In my head i know exactly what that is).
For almost a year now (in about a month- Birthday 2011), I had been wearing my hair in a very short - bald haircut. I played around with color to keep it interesting- think Amber Rose to Madonna (lol). Don't believe me?

So in the last couple of months I have been letting it grow- well sorta- I get bored. I reached a point were I would just wet and go. I love this, but again, I get bored. Now hair texture, how do I explain this? I, like I guess most women, have a hang up on the titles for our various types of hair. I have often time hear my hair being referred to as "good hair", funny to me every time because like it or not I have my own ideas of what "good hair" is. So not to get into a charged convo on hair types, my hair has a very tight curl, but yes it does have bounce. Wwoo! ok! Now, I have been wearing my hair in a short curly afro, but it's been looking so...well normal. Keep in mind, I mentioned Amber Rose and Madonna in the same convo on hair color, so 'normal' doesn't usually apply here.
So, I went to the salon on Thursday and decided to have my short fro' blown out to see what could be done about this 'normal" situation. Turns out I had some length! See what I mean about the tight curl? So I had my stylist tweak the sides a bit for some more dramatic flare. Now I have somewhat of a... well do you remember those pencils that use to have the hair of yarn that you could play with? ; ) And that's the point, I LOVE the texture. It's just my type of 'nappy'. Anyone growing out a natural knows that your hair changes CONSTANTLY! And I am enjoying learning my hair and loving all the textures that my hair has to offer. I am growing with my hair...
The journey begins... TBC
P.S. Will try to get up-to-date pics ASAP!
